Notes from ECHA’s November BPC Meeting
About the ECHA Biocidal Products Committee Meeting
During the meeting held on 25-29 November 2024, the Biocidal Products Committee (BPC) of ECHA adopted six opinions on active substances and four opinions on Union authorisation. These are listed below.
Adopted opinions on active substances:
- Renewal of Epsilon-Metofluthrin for Product Type 18
- Approval of 2,2-dibromo-2-cyanoacetamide (DBNPA) for Product Type 11
- Approval of 2-methyl-2H-isothiazol-3-one (MIT) for Product Type 6
- Approval of 2-methyl-2,3-dihydro-1,2-thiazol-3-one hydrochloride (MIT HCl) for Product Type 6
- Approval of Peracetic acid produced from 1,3-diacetyloxypropan-2-yl acetate and hydrogen peroxide for Product Type 2
The committee did not support the following opinion:
- Approval of Epsilon-Metofluthrin for Product Type 19
Adopted opinions for Union authorisation:
- A biocidal product family containing Propan-1-ol/Propan-2-ol for Product Types 1, 2, and 4
- A biocidal product family containing Propan-2-ol for Product Type 1
The committee did not support the following opinion:
- A significant change in the Union authorisation for a biocidal product family containing Active chlorine released from Sodium hypochlorite for Product Type 2.
ECHA stated that the European Commission, together with the EU Member States, will make the final decision based on the BPC opinions. It was also mentioned that the next BPC meeting will take place on 24-28 February.
