The Classification and Labelling Inventory of Echa Chem Has Been Updated

28.05.2025

ECHA has made the C&L Inventory more functional.

ECHA CHEM can be considered the largest chemical database of the European Union. It currently contains over 100,000 REACH registrations. However, this size can sometimes make data access challenging.

Recognizing this issue, the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) has announced that it has updated the Classification and Labelling Inventory. The updated inventory includes more than 4,400 EU-level harmonised classifications and seven million classifications that have been either notified or included in REACH registrations. With the new inventory, ECHA aims to facilitate user access to classification data and enhance transparency regarding the sources of classification information.

ECHA also noted that in this first version, classification information is accessible in a visual format on a per-substance basis, and that complementary features such as application programming interfaces (APIs) will be introduced in future releases.

Along with the inventory update, the user interface has also been improved, offering a better user experience. ECHA stated that it will continue such efforts in the future to make its chemical databases more comprehensive.
