Instruction on Biocidal Product Analyses and Authorized Laboratories Updated

About the Update

The Instruction on Biocidal Product Analyses and Authorized Laboratories has been updated with the approval dated 23/09/2021 and numbered E-19020089-020-3851.

Due to the seasonality of target organisms used in the registration-essential analyses of insecticides and biological efficacy trials, some issues have been encountered. Additionally, the use of the phrase "having an IUL certificate and/or" in Article 16(c) of the Instruction on Biocidal Product Analyses and Authorized Laboratories, unlike subparagraphs (a) and (b) of the same paragraph, has led to misunderstandings.

To address these issues in the sector and to ensure balanced application across product groups, as well as to resolve the mentioned misunderstanding, the first paragraph (c) of Article 16 of the Instruction on Biocidal Product Analyses and Authorized Laboratories, published with the approval dated 16/08/2021 and numbered 19020089-020-E-19020089-020-3305, has been amended as follows: "For microbiological efficacy authorization, having an IUL certificate and/or having ISO/IEC 17025 laboratory accreditation in at least one of the efficacy tests (bacterial, viral, fungal)." Furthermore, the first paragraph of Article 24 has been amended as follows: "All authorized laboratories must be accredited and/or have obtained an IUL certificate by 31/12/2021, taking into account the specified conditions. Laboratories that have not completed the accreditation and/or IUL certification process by 31/12/2021 cannot accept samples for registration-essential analyses, but may complete short and/or long-term stability tests that started before 31/12/2021. No extension will be granted for laboratories that have not completed the accreditation and/or IUL certification process by 31/12/2021, and their authorization will be revoked."
