What is Detergent within the Scope of the Communiqué No 28807
Products used for cleaning purposes in industrial areas as much as in daily life are called Detergents. Detergents obtain cleaning properties through surfactants in their formulations. Surface active substances known mostly as surfactants, are chemical compounds that remove pollutants or water-insoluble substances from the surface and prevent them from falling on the same surface again. This ability provides the cleaning specialty to the surfactants.
Surfactants may be anionic, cationic, nonionic, or amphoteric. Detergents are used in formulations including such surfactants as well as complexing agents, bleaches and stabilizers, anticorrosive agents, optical whitening agents, colloidal carriers, foam conditioners, fillers (humectants and lathering inhibitors), disinfectants, perfumes, additives and auxiliary chemicals such as hydrochloric acid. However, it should not be forgotten that "Detergents" are cleaner due to the surfactants or substances they contain.
Which Products are Evaluated Within the Scope of Detergent and Where They Are Used:
"Detergent" is a general definition given to products used for industrial purposes such as liquids, solids, powders, molds, and similar forms used in cleaning and washing, as well as for domestic use in the context of "Communiqué on Detergents and Surfactants Used in Detergents". The products used to clean the human body are not covered by detergents. Detergents can be used both in the domestic environment as well as in the industrial or institutional areas by experts for cleaning and washing purposes. The product groups evaluated in the detergent category can also be listed as follows;
- Auxiliary Wash Mix: Products used for prewashing, wetting, or bleaching purposes and for household linen, clothing, or similar items are assessed in the detergent category.
- Laundry Softener: The products used to make the clothes softer after being washed and cleaned, are also evaluated under the scope of the detergent category. These products are often used because of their softness and delicacy specialties for cleaning purposes.
- Cleaning Mixture: A wide variety of surfaces, machines, mechanical devices, vehicles used in transportation, equipment used in any area, and household general-purpose cleaners are also covered under detergent.
- Other Cleaning and Washing Mixtures: All the products used for washing and cleaning purposes except those mentioned above are in the detergent category.
Detergents are evaluated within the scope of "Communiqué on Detergents and Surfactants Used in Detergents’’ published by the Customs and Trade Ministry with the number 28807 on 31 October 2013. To sell such products in the Turkish market, notification to the relevant Ministry is a must.
