Notes from RAC and SEAC Meetings in November
ECHA’s Risk Assessment (RAC) and Socio-Economic Analysis (SEAC) Committees held their final meeting of 2024 in November.
During the meeting, evaluation of the EU-wide restriction proposal for per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) was provisionally concluded for the following sectors: construction products; textiles, upholstery, leather, apparel, and carpets; and food contact materials and packaging.
Additionally, RAC adopted 12 opinions on the harmonised classification and labelling of hazardous substances and reached an agreement on a draft opinion regarding the review report. Moreover, RAC finalised three draft opinions on authorisations, while SEAC agreed on 14.

According to ECHA, the committees will assess more sectors in future meetings. In March, the application of fluorinated gases, as well as topics related to transport and energy, are expected to be addressed for the first time. Following March, lubricants, medical devices, electronics and semiconductors will be discussed.
