UK REACH is a regulation related to the registration, evaluation, authorization, and restriction of chemicals produced or imported into Great Britain (England, Scotland, Wales). The UK REACH regulation may cover a substance on its own, in a mixture, or in the content of an article.
Introduced on January 1, 2021, after the United Kingdom's withdrawal from the European Union, UK REACH is the adapted version of the EU REACH Regulation to align with UK legislation. Its primary objectives include protecting human and environmental health from the adverse effects of chemical use, ensuring individuals placing chemicals on the market understand and manage the associated risks, and encouraging responsibility for assessing harmful properties of substances using alternative methods.
UK REACH applies to manufacturers and importers in Great Britain. Organizations outside Great Britain must obtain a sole representative service based in Great Britain to complete the UK REACH registration. In this context, relevant companies must identify the risks associated with the substances they manufacture and place on the market, provide methods to control these risks, determine necessary measures for the safe use of substances, and communicate this information to substance users.
